Our Mission

The American Element grew out of a sense that far too few media outlets succeed in exploring the topic of philanthropic business, the source of our passion and guiding principles. Many others fail to achieve a balanced and non-partisan voice. As former service-members who believe in Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) thinking, we felt that we could provide a unique focus and deep examination of critical issues in business, policy, and technology. Key to creating that measured voice was that each of us tended to the opposite side of the political aisle from the other, and had different ways of viewing the world. Yet again and again found a wealth of topics on which we could find common ground.

To find fault is easy; to do better may be difficult.
